La Sella Golf Resort bets on active tourism to continue generating value.

Today we interview Jerome Gateau, director of the La Sella Golf Resort in Denia (Alicante).

The resort’s accommodation offer consists of the 5* Hotel Denia Marriott La Sella and the premium villa complex The Residences La Sella. With its privileged location in the Montgó Natural Park, it invites you to relax, but also to be active, with sports and physical activity for all tastes and levels. Golf is the protagonist here, but not only: this is also a consolidated destination for the cycling segment and it is possible to enjoy interesting hiking itineraries. There is no shortage of beautiful landscapes here and, of course, triathletes will find an endless number of routes and challenges with different levels of difficulty.

Can you share with us your overall assessment of what the summer season has been like?

“This summer, the weight of repeat customers, loyal to the Resort with 65% of national customers has increased which is a clear sign of the high level of satisfaction of our customers in both Denia Marriott La Sella and The Residences La Sella. Without a doubt, the destination has been the trendy destination of the summer thanks to the complete offer that Denia and Javea have both in summer and the rest of the year”.
The occupancy figures reflect this in what is already considered the summer of recovery after the crisis that has affected the entire sector so much.

“We have achieved a very satisfactory occupancy rate of over 85% in August, having given priority at all times to the safety and comfort of our customers and employees in this delicate situation at a global health level. To this end, we have maintained and continue to maintain strict protocols of organisation, cleaning and disinfection in all the facilities, having renewed the Safe Tourism certified seal for the second year in July. Thanks to the recent complete refurbishment of the hotel and the continuous training of the staff, the application of these protocols has been more effective and guests have been able to enjoy their holidays with peace of mind using the technological tools that have been implemented, such as the mobile key, the mobile chat with reception or the capacity control”.

Any anecdotes or particularly interesting moments of the summer?

“Yes, during the month of August, we have been a hotel night for La Vuelta Ciclista España with 3 cycling teams, TREK SEGAFREDO, ISRAEL ACADEMY and UAE Cycling Team, thus consolidating our orientation towards active tourism”.

And what are your objectives for the coming weeks?

“For the coming months, the prospects are good with the reactivation of the Scandinavian golf markets that come to enjoy from September our 27-hole golf course, completely designed and renovated by Jose Maria Olazabal. Thanks to all these positive elements and thinking about a medium-term strategy, the priority is now on the human team. For this reason, we are carrying out several recruitment processes in the different departments of the Resort in order to consolidate the teams with professionals who want to integrate a great project within the GAT group and the Marriott brand”.
