Opening of Antequera Hills Hotel

The well-known 4* establishment will reopen next Friday 25th February and will remain open for the whole season.
In this new stage of management and as a consequence of the new commercial and marketing strategy, the hotel will be renamed Antequera Hills Hotel.

Managed by GAT since October 2021, this asset will reopen after a few months closed during which time it has been used to undertake a first phase of updating coordinated by the Tourism Asset Management team.

During this first phase, with an investment of more than 2 million euros, work has been carried out in the common areas: lobby, reception, outdoor terrace/pool, bar and buffet restaurant and a total of 17 rooms. The façade has also been repaired and the exterior paintwork has been repaired. This first phase, which will culminate in April, has also included a notable improvement of such fundamental installations for the activity of the asset as the kitchens, the chambers, the air conditioning and the boilers.

The result, in addition to an obvious aesthetic change towards a fresh, modern and minimalist design, is a definitive improvement in terms of management in accordance with the principles of sustainability and respect for the environment and through the observation and implementation of solutions designed for energy efficiency and the reduction of polluting emissions. In this sense, it is worth highlighting the fact that the hotel has a charger for electric cars.

In a second phase of investment valued at more than 1M euros, it is planned to upgrade the rest of the 182 rooms (of which 11 are suites) that make up the hotel asset. This phase will be carried out between the end of 2022 and the first months of 2023. This second phase will also include the updating of the meeting rooms, corridors and the rest of the common areas.

The Antequera Hotel is the largest hotel in the region. In addition to the more than interesting offer of quality accommodation, it is necessary to add the added value provided by its complementary services capable of providing a complete response to the needs of the client.

Location and connectivity

With a location just 51 km from Malaga, this asset has among its attributes excellent connections both by motorway with all the provincial capitals of Andalusia and directly by high-speed rail with Malaga, Granada, Cordoba and Seville. The air connection is made through the airport of the capital of Malaga, which is among the top 5 airports in Spain in terms of air traffic and passenger volume.

This circumstance of excellent connectivity makes the Hotel Antequera an incomparable space for the celebration of social and business events. It has up to eight rooms with more than 1000m2 of versatile and adaptable space for the organisation of events and events of different types, with the MICE client in mind (meetings and congresses) and the numerous clubs and sporting disciplines that hold their meetings, tournaments and trials in the facilities of the Antequera High Performance Centre, which is an international benchmark.

A very attractive asset in a city that is a reference point in Andalusia.

The date chosen for the reopening of this asset coincides with the start of the popular “holiday long weekend” of the day of the Community of Andalusia, a very special date in the town of Antequera as it was there where the pact for autonomy was signed and where it was even considered to become the Andalusian capital.

Antequera was declared a World Heritage City by UNESCO in 2016. It has a fabulous architectural heritage that ranges from the largest dolmens in Europe to its Renaissance-style buildings, which were among the first of their kind on the Iberian Peninsula.

We must not forget the excellent local gastronomy and the diversity of possibilities for active tourism.

Trails and routes through the lush valley of Torcal or the famous Caminito del Rey, a visit to the astronomical observatory or the aforementioned cultural attractions such as the Dolmens and, of course, the possibility of practising sport.

Golf is possible and easy for guests staying at the Hotel Antequera as it is very close to the 18-hole golf course. The hotel’s BikeCenter service and access to interesting routes through the region are also of great interest to cyclists.

All of this makes up a very complete experiential tourism offer, in line with the “bleisure” (business+leisure) concept that defines the establishment so well.

Antequera, as well as being the birthplace of the molletes (Denomination of Origin protected by the EU), is a very dynamic locality both in the primary sector (agriculture) and in the logistics and services sector. The Dry Port linked to Algeciras is currently in full development, with an investment of more than 35M€ in its first phase and with the installation of large national and international companies that will generate an investment of more than 200M€ in the coming years and the creation of more than 2,000 jobs.
