Rafael Benet, our F&B Director at Marina d’Or

The gastronomic experience is one of the lines of change and improvement, of evolution, that we are implementing in the new stage of the Marina d’Or resort.
In the operation and management of the tourist assets, GAT places special emphasis on defining the gastronomic offer, aware of its importance within the experience and the value given to it by the clients themselves. It is not in vain that the moments spent in the restaurant areas, the number of photographs and comments that arise from family gatherings sharing a table occupy a large part of the holiday memories.
The key to success is to select good professionals who are leading important issues such as this.
Today we will get to know Rafael Benet, the new director of the Food and Beverage area at Marina d’Or.
Tell us a little about your professional experience and how it has been
“I started in the industry as an entrepreneur linked to music promotion, where I unexpectedly discovered the satisfaction of dedicating your daily effort to the enjoyment of others. With this newly assumed spirit of service, I decided to complement my training at Les Roches, becoming part of the hotel industry. Passionate about everything related to catering, I have developed my career between the kitchens, rooms and banquets of different properties under the standards of reference companies such as IHG or Kempinski and the last seven years linked to different GAT projects as F&B director”.
How are these first months at the helm of the resort’s F&B area going?
“I have always considered the restaurant industry to be an art that you could learn something new every day. The dimensions and particularities of a resort of these characteristics leave it open to your creativity to design a “different” operation outside the usual limits.”
What are you focusing on at the moment?
“While Marina d’Or is an atypical asset in terms of size, the agenda starts with the same point, the people. Listening to the teams and understanding their difficulties helps you to clearly identify those areas where solutions are required. Together with those ideas that through experience you feel add value to the guest experience, you form a plan of action to follow, which we are now immersed in.”
Can you give us your reasons why no one should miss Marina Dor this summer?
“I think it’s important to keep the magic and therefore I don’t want to give too many clues, but for those travellers who decide to visit us, I can advance that this year they will find multiple novelties with new restaurants, refurbished spaces, and concepts modernised to the new trends More info on social networks soon! ”
