Juan José Moreno

Juan José is an expert in equipment management and the transformation of assets, adapting them to clients’ needs. His different responsibilities in tourist companies have enabled him to appreciate the relationship between technical configurations and the evolution of the business.  

Professional career

He took his first steps in the touristic sector working as the director of Hotel Solucar (Sanlúcar la Mayor, Seville), 4* and 149 rooms (1991-1992). His international experience commenced working hand in hand with Occidental Hotels, in the Dominican Republic (1992-1995), working first as Rooms Division Manager in Occidental Gran Flamenco, Puerto Plata, (a resort with 586 rooms) and later as the director of Hotel Riviera Beach (Dominican Republic) (1993-1994).

In 1994 he was appointed to be the resident director of the Resort Occidental Isla Margarita, in Venezuela, and subsequently he was appointed Managing Director (between 1995 and 1998, from 1996 under the name Confortel).

Between 1998 and 2004 he performed duties in positions of responsibility in the Confortel Hotels, in Spain: Managing Director of Confortel Islantilla, in Huelva, until 2000 and then working as the chain’s Operations Manager (2000-2004), with 14 hotels, carrying out a significant restructuration and extension of the portfolio as an active member of the company’s management committee.

In Tenerife, in 2004, he was responsible for the pre-opening, start-up, value enhancement strategy, continuous operation and placement of the Ritz Carlton included in the great ABAMA project, created by the TIMÓN group, with an investment of 360 million euros, 5*, grand luxury, 486 rooms, 18-hole golf course and 60 hectares for real estate development (2004-2007).

In 2008, he founded GAT, Gestión de Activos en Transición, obtaining a significant track record in its first four years and becoming a referent in interim management. GAT has enabled him to carry out significant operations for hotels under emblematic names, such as NH, Intercontinental, Hilton, Westin, Marriott, Pierre&Vacances, as well as for independent management establishments, such as Comsa Brno Palace in the Czech Republic, Hotel Cándido (Segovia), Hotel La Figuerola (Tarragona), Arcos Gardens (Arcos de la Frontera), Valbusenda (Zamora), Hotel Castellar (Cádiz), Bahía Sur (Cádiz), among others.

He has spoken at numerous conferences related to tourism in Spain and abroad.
