José Luis Mejías

José Luis has extensive national and international experience in managing gastronomic excellence in hotels and restaurants. He provides practical solutions that have been adapted to the needs and goals of each establishment.

Professional career

He began his career in Meliá Hoteles, to move to Cuba to collaborate as a Gastronomic Advisor in Panamerican hotels.  For three years, he held the position of Executive Chef in the Husa Hotels, Baqueira. He has spent most of his career working as Executive Chef and Food and Drinks Manager in Hoteles Occidental, in the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Marbella.

In 2005, he held the post of Kitchen Manager in the Abama Golf & Spa Resort and the Corporative Food and Drinks Manager the Hesperia Hotels, Venezuela, respectively.

Since 2010 he has been the Food and Drinks Manager in GAT, Gestión de Activos Turísticos


Ever since the start of his career, José Luis has been in continuous training, studying courses related to total restaurant management, staff management, quality control and cost analysis, among others. Always focused towards optimising resources and providing customer satisfaction. 

Likewise, he has offered numerous workshops in establishments of great prestige, such as the “Martín Berasategui” Restaurant, 3* Michelin, San Sebastián; “La Broche” Restaurant, 2* Michelin, Madrid; Restaurant Arce, Madrid; Restaurant “Paneur Fleuri¨ 1* Michelin, San Sebastián, Hotel Princesa Sofía, Husa Hotels, Barcelona; Hotel Ritz, Husa Hotels, Barcelona.

Awards and acknowledgements

The Spanish Royal Family and the President’s Office of the Republic of Venezuela for his work as Food Manager in the Ibero-American Summit for Heads of State (1997).

The award for the Best Hotel Restaurant. Diario de Avisos Tenerife, Spain (2007).

Protocol Team of the President’s Office of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the excellent organisation and development of the “II Africa-South America Summit for the Heads of State (2008)”.
